Review is an
evaluation of a publication, product, service, or company such as a movies, books, products, etc
The purpose of
review is to analyze and evaluate some creative works, and to inform people
about its strengths and weaknesses.
The text has two form of
review:
- The text review in spoken form, It reviews a film entitled The Artist. In spoken texts or monologs, we usually us some fillers, such as well, you know, er,...., um,... etc
- Review in written form, A review is a text which has a purpose to criticize a work of art, even for a public audience.
- Such works of art include movies, TV show, books, plays, operas, recordings, exhibitions, concerts, and ballets.
The generic structure of a
review in written form:
- Title, Briefly identifies the subject of the review in some interesting way, and generally is linked to the reviewer’s name.
- Orientation , Place the work in its general and particular context, often by comparing it with others of its kind through analog with a non-art object or event.
- Interpretative recount, Summarizes the plot and/or provides an account of how the reviewed rendition of the work came into being. It is optional, but if present often recursive.
- Evaluation, Provides an evaluation of the work and/or its performance production. It is usually recursive.
- Evaluative summation or conclusions, Provides a kind of punch line which sums up the reviewer’s opinion of the art even as a whole. It is optional.
